Senior Variety Show set for April 29th
By Rickie DeVany
Loyalton High School’s final fundraising event, the Senior Variety Show, will be tonight in the high school gym.
There will be a barbecue dinner before the show, which starts at 5 p.m. Dinner will be barbecue chicken with homemade coleslaw and beans, which will be made respectively by Barbara Jaquez and Pam Pasquetti from Pasquetti Catering.
Dinner and the show will be $10; separately the dinner will be $7, and the show will be $7 for adults and $5 for children. The dinner is mostly by presale tickets only, with some dinners available at the door, first come, first served. Show tickets will be sold at the door.
The variety show will consist of acts such as stand-up comedy, singing, dancing, acting and other routines. Kirsten Goldsmith, the senior class president, said that past shows have been successful and entertaining. If all seniors participate in this year’s show, then it will be very successful, she said.
Along with the dinner and show there will be a live auction. The seniors are each donating furniture, food and other objects. Community members will bid on these items at the auction, which will occur halfway through the show.
The event helps raise a lot of money for the senior class. In past years the senior class has made from $1,300 to $2,500 at the evening’s events. The proceeds will go toward the seniors’ trip and graduation staging.
